Glueboards are increasingly being used in light traps to effectively catch insects.
These boards have an adhesive with very special properties, specially designed to grip and hold very light objects. And all this in very demanding conditions.
The insects should stick to the surface after applying very light pressure. The common scientific name for this type of adhesive is “pressure sensitive adhesives” (PSA adhesives). The use of glueboards compared to light traps with a high voltage grid.
In recent years, this high-voltage grid has come under increasing pressure due to a number of shortcomings. These differences between an glueboard and a high voltage grid are listed in the table below:

There is still little or no awareness of the fact that UV-A light diminishes over time and as a result lamps are not replaced or are replaced too late. As a result, a flytrap will work less well, if at all.

The maintenance interval for a UV-A Lamp is 1 year. After 1 year, the UV light of your lamp is reduced by 40% on average. A long-life UV lamp has a maintenance interval of 2 years. Keep in mind that UV-A light is not visible to the human eye. So you cannot see that the UV light of your lamp has decreased. You can measure this with a UV meter

For some years now, there have been special LEDs on the market that have the ability to generate ultraviolet light; UV-A LEDs. These special LEDs are at the heart of a new generation of UV-A lamps: the ASTRON UV LED 15 Watt.
